Travis Arthur Johnson

Lives & works in Gastonia, NC

 

Travis Arthur Johnson is an artist and educator living in Gastonia, NC.  After receiving his BA degree in Fine Art from the University of the South in 2004, Travis began his career in Art Education which includes Teacher of the Year awards from Warlick Academy in Ranlo, NC in 2014 and Forestview High School in Gastonia, NC in 2018.  He is currently the Middle School Art Teacher at Gaston Day School in Gastonia, NC. 

Outside of the classroom, Travis has also been active in local Art communities and served as the President of the Gaston County Art Guild in 2013.  Artistic accomplishments include creating the logo for the South Carolina Century Farm Program and painting murals for the Biological Sciences Department at Clemson University. 

Travis is thankful for the support of his wife, Betsy and is often joined in his studio by his daughters, Nora and Nat. (Otherwise know as the apprentices)  When not art making, the family enjoys gardening and exploring nature.
